Who is Dr J?

A fascinated scientist? An Oxford Scholar? A passionate cook? Who exactly is Dr J?

In fact, he’s all of the above and a whole lot more… Dr J started English Spirit with an experiment in an old barn, after finding a loophole in an archaic law around distilling for personal use.

Over the past decade he has earned a reputation as one of the UK’s true Master Distillers, having developed an array of wondrous spirits and liqueurs: everything from cucumber spirit and baijiu, to distilling and distributing the UK’s first rum from scratch. If you say it can’t be distilled, he’s bound to prove you wrong by utilising his knowledge to produce yet another discerning tipple.

Dr J started producing spirits for his friends, simply because he believed that people deserved to drink truly great tasting spirits that didn’t burn when enjoying neat. He’s kept this ethos at the heart of English Spirit and continues to blend new flavours and develop new techniques, creating spirits to be shared and enjoyed.
