The Clock Turns, the Fire Crackles, and Christmas Spirit Returns

The Clock Turns, the Fire Crackles, and Christmas Spirit Returns

Ah, the clocks have gone back. The days have taken on that deliciously dusky brevity — shadows lengthen, lamps glow earlier, and the air gains a certain crisp clarity that whispers, “Time to light the fire.” One finds oneself rummaging in drawers for matches, striking one with ceremony, and basking in the amber flicker of domestic cosiness. Yes, it’s that wondrous season again — when jumpers thicken, evenings stretch luxuriously long, and the first murmurs of Christmas begin to hum in the background like the overture of a favourite carol.

And what, dear reader, could possibly mark this most convivial turning of the year better than a glass — nay, a goblet — of our Christmas Spirit Rum Liqueur?

The Alchemy of Yuletide in a Bottle

From the good people who proudly bear the title of the UK’s original rum distillers comes something rather magical — Christmas, bottled and blessed. We begin our craft by co-distilling our own rum from rich molasses, delicately interwoven with English oak and hickory. The result is a spirit with depth and warmth — a liquid hearth.

Then, as though composing a carol for the palate, we fold in a veritable ensemble of festive flavours: a shimmering coil of orange zest, a luxuriously split vanilla pod, cinnamon sticks twirling like dancers in a snow globe, and the beguiling geometry of star anise. The effect? Nothing short of a deconstructed Christmas pudding in a bottle.

But How Does It Taste?

“All very jolly,” you might say, “but what’s it like?”

Do not fret. It tastes utterly divine — positively Dickensian in its generosity. This year’s blend is our richest yet: raisin-laden and resplendent with cracked caramel, threaded through with vanilla and a panoply of bright, mouth-watering citrus. There’s even that subtle haunting of nutmeg that whispers of spiced biscuits and midnight carols.

Smooth? My dear fellow, smoother than still air. A sip and the world seems to slow, the fire glows brighter, and for a moment, all is well and wondrously Christmassy.

As is our tradition, Christmas Spirit Rum Liqueur will be available from the 1st of November until the 24th of December — a fleeting festive visitation, gone as soon as the last mince pie crumb has fallen.

So, charge your glasses, settle into your favourite chair, and let the season — and our rum — warm you from within.

Cheers, and a very spirited Christmas to you all.
